When a hotel turns 100 years old, it’s bound to have fascinating stories to tell. This was certainly the case for the Hyatt Hotel Canberra, which celebrated its centenary in 2024. To mark the occasion, the Hyatt Hotel Canberra wanted something that could showcase the countless stories that have unfolded within the hotel’s storied walls. The challenge for us was to come up with a solution that could help the Hyatt Hotel Canberra showcase these stories, in a way that was both visually appealing and engaging for website visitors.
The Hyatt Hotel Canberra is a heritage hotel located in the heart of the nation’s capital. Dubbed as “the meeting place of Canberra”, the hotel has housed people from all walks of life - from prime ministers to foreign dignitaries and industry leaders.
In 2024, the Hyatt Hotel Canberra turned 100 years old - an astonishing number that serves as a testament to the timeless luxury the hotel provides to this day.
We crafted a website that was centred on storytelling - both in a narrative and visual sense.
As part of this, we built a “Featured Stories” section to showcase some of the captivating tales from the Hotel’s history, a “Guest Stories” section where visitors can explore submissions from other guests, and a “Gallery” section for visitors to view some of the stunning images from the Hotel’s past.
For the visual design, we paid homage to the timeless luxury of the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. We used a darker palette complemented by the Hotel’s subtle gold accents to reinforce the idea of luxury, whilst seamlessly integrating modernity into the design with subtle pink touches on the website’s hover animation.
The result was a piece that balanced the timeless Old-World luxury of the hotel with a subtle contemporary touch. A digital collection that celebrates 100 years of history.
